Gibbons Creek Wildlife Art Trail features scenic viewpoints of three small lakes, the Columbia
River, and Columbia Gorge National Scenic Area. Many bird varieties, other
wildlife, and natural habitat. Enjoy the unique art. Remote
Be sure you are off the trail before an automatic entrance gate at the remote
trailhead closes promptly at the posted time.
Gibbons Creek and Columbia River Dike trails combine for several distance
options. There are 5/10/11/12 and 13 km routes which start directly from
through a pedestrian plaza and tunnel under SR-14; the 5/10km remote starts are
a 2.5 mile drive. Due to a seasonal
trail closure, wintertime distances are out-and-back. No water on trails; carry
water with you.
A 5km route directly from Pendleton is available all year long, with leashed pets welcome. Owners are responsible for proper clean-up. Route includes a loop through downtown Washougal, the pedestrian tunnel, Columbia Dike trail with river views, Cottonwood Beach, and Captain William Clark Park, where restrooms are available.
Restrooms and water at registration; restrooms only at trailhead. Suitable for
strollers but difficult for wheelchairs. NO PETS are allowed on the new Gibbons
Creek Trail. An out-and-back from Pendleton Store along the dike and back again
is a pet-friendly, 10km option. WSC: Restaurants
-- American, Asian (5k town only).
